Understanding your insurance policy and its requirements can be difficult. The business office staff at Meehan Medical wants to make your payment process as simple as possible. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. However, in order for you to fully understand your insurance benefits you should contact your health insurance company directly.

We request that you bring in your most recent insurance card to each visit. Doing so ensures that our billing department will submit your claim promptly to the correct insurance company.

If there has been any change in your health insurance coverage since your last visit to Meehan Medical, please report these changes to "PATIENT REGISTRATION." Changes may include any name change, address change or change in the insurance company. Also, if your normal insurance plan is NOT to be billed for the services rendered on the day you are being seen, please tell "PATIENT REGISTRATION" every time you return for such a visit. For example, if you are injured at work and you are sent to Meehan Medical for medical care. This visit will probably be considered a worker's compensation claim. If you do not report this information to patient registration, the bill will be submitted improperly to your personal health insurance.

We are currently contracted Providers with:

  • Aetna
  • Blue Cross Blue Shield
  • Cigna Healthcare
  • Medicare
  • MedCost
  • United Healthcare
  • Wellpath

We also accept commercial insurance not affiliated with an HMO or PPO.

Fees and Payment

We make every effort to control the cost of our services. An important way we accomplish this is by eliminating the need for mailing statements. Therefore, we request payment at the time of your visit. Any co-pays or deductibles are to be paid at time of service. If payment in full is not possible, please contact our office manager and she will work out a payment plan with you.

If you are a Medicare patient, your charges will be billed directly to Medicare. We will accept assignment of benefits. You are required to have a valid Medicare identification card in your possession at the time of your visit. Remember that you are responsible for your deductible and will be expected to pay for charges not covered by Medicare.

Hospital Charges

We accept assignment of benefits for most in-patient charges and we will bill your insurance company. You will be notified of any balance due after your insurance pays.

Meehan Medical accepts assignments for all in-patient charges for Medicare recipients. This means that Medicare will pay us directly for 80% of their allowable charge. If you have supplemental insurance, we will bill them for the remaining 20% of the balance. Otherwise, you are responsible for the balance, as well as for your deductible.
